Blue Peter celebrates sixty fifth birthday as we make a journey again in time


Presenters Matt Baker, Abby Cook dinner, Lindsey Russell, Radzi Chinyanganya and Joel Mawhinney, have celebrated Blue Peters sixty fifth birthday.

The longest operating youngsters’s TV present on the earth, it has seen 42 presenters and its fair proportion of thrills, spills and animals.




From George the tortoise – Bonnie the canine – Lulu the elephant, what may probably go fallacious. Loads! We check out a number of the humorous moments by the years and the presenters that helped ship them.


The present has seen 42 presenters to date with Scotland’s wheelchair racer Abby Cook dinner being chosen as the latest. The previous Grangemouth Excessive School pupil mentioned she “needed to test it was true” when she was picked for the high-profile position.

TV presenter Janet Ellis with Bonnie the Blue Peter canine at two months previous – April 1986 ‘Blue Peter’ introduced at this time, on her thirteenth birthday, that Bonnie the Golden Retriever, will retire from the programme later this month on February 22. Bonnie was born on 3 February 1986 in ‘Blue Peter’ canine Goldie’s second litter. Bonnie made her first look on the present when she was six weeks previous and later took over from her mom when she retired within the Summer season of 1986. With 13 years service, Bonnie is ‘Blue Peter’s’ second longest serving pet. The programme’s first canine Petra was on the present for 15 years. (Picture: BBC)

4 two-month-old lion cubs from Chessington Zoo went to the BBC TV studios to participate within the Blue Peter youngsters’s programme.
